Two Illustrators, One Studio — Part II:

Fresh Work from Donna Grethen & Paul Tong

We’re checking back in with husband-and-wife illustration duo Donna Grethen and Paul Tong, whose shared studio continues to fuel new ideas and creative momentum. Since our last feature, the pair has each created three new illustrations inspired by the same themes: season’s greetings, STEM-curious kids, and self-care.

Approached through two distinct artistic lenses, these themes reveal the duo’s unique creative voices. Donna brings her expressive lines, uplifting color palettes, and warm storytelling to scenes of celebration, personal well-being, and childhood wonder. Paul interprets the same topics through bold compositions, narrative-rich imagery, and his signature visual metaphors—adding cinematic flair and conceptual depth.

Different in style yet united by inspiration, these parallel pieces highlight how Donna and Paul continue to evolve individually while sparking one another’s creativity in their shared studio. Their work reminds us how two artistic worlds can grow side by side—distinct, yet beautifully connected.

Stay tuned as this duo continues to expand their visual worlds—together, yet uniquely their own.
